Board Exams 2021: Guntur education department is helping academically weak students who suffered due to lockdown NewsFunda

With an aim to help first-generation learners and bridge the learning gap created by the COVID-19 crisis, the Guntur Education Department has chalked out a supportive plan for board aspirants.

According to RS Ganga Bhavani, district educational officer (DEO), the initiative has been launched to identify slow learners and arrange extra classes to prepare for the class X board examinations. The initiative has been launched in all 576 government-run schools in the district.

Highlighting the significance of the initiative, Bhavani says that it will help more than 30000 students enrolled in our schools. “Majority of them are from very humble background and first-generation learners who do not get guidance from family members with the studies,” she says.

Intermittent or lack of electricity and internet and accessibility to a smartphone or laptop, computer, less or no technological knowledge are some of the major challenges for students from humble background for a seamless digital learning experience.

Under the initiative, school teachers will be conducting extra classes in the morning and evening to identify slow learners and segregate them as per their abilities. They will offer them special assistance to help improve their academic performance in the upcoming board examination.

“Daily and weekly special tests, model papers based on NCERT, question booklet, counselling and motivational classes are among major action plan to be conducted as part of the initiative to help government school students,” says Bhavani while talking to Education Times.

All the teachers have been asked to complete the syllabus by the end of April. The Board of Secondary Education, Andhra Pradesh will conduct the Secondary School Certificate (SSC or class X ) exam from June 7 to 16.
